Ozzy Osbourne has revealed to Classic Rock magazine that he is currently searching for a new guitarist for his solo band.

Classic Rock caught up with Osbourne last week at the Slash & Friends gig in Norway, where the whispers backstage had guitarist John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) lined up as a possible replacement for Zakk Wylde…

"Well, I'm getting a new guitar player as we speak," Ozzy told Classic Rock, "and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, 'Get Johnny 5!' And I tried him at one time and I didn't really give him a chance. We'll see, I don't know. I haven't fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk's got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y'know?

"I've got a guy from Greece coming in — not the musical, the country of Greece — but I'm not going to say too much about it, 'cos I don't know myself at this point. I've got a new album, I'm working on it as we speak. I've got a studio at my house and I've got a guy called Kevin Churko, the guy that did the last album [Churko also worked on Ozzy's 'Under Cover' album, produced CHEAP TRICK's highly rated 2006 album 'Rockford', and has credits on releases by BRITNEY SPEARS, CELINE DION and SHANIA TWAIN] — he's great to work with.

"And it's great to have your own studio. On one hand it's great and on the other it's not, 'cos when you're at the studio you can go, 'Sorry darling, I can't get home for dinner, I'm stuck at the studio…' But she can fucking come down stairs now! But I'm just enjoying my life now…"

Classic Rock: So you're taking it easy recording this album?

Ozzy: "Oh yeah. Zakk came down and did a bunch of stuff and I don't know if I want to use it but I've got it there if I do. And this Kevin Churko is a bit of an all-rounder so I'm getting back to basics in some respects. One thing about a guy who can't do all the finger-tapping stuff is that he plays better on the riffs cos it's not all [hums riff for 'Iron Man' followed by over-the-top widdling]."

Classic Rock: Does HEAVEN & HELL having a new album out make you more competitive?

Ozzy: "No. Not in the slightest. I really wish them well. I mean I've been out of that band three times longer than I was ever in them. But people say, 'What do you think about Dio?' He's great singer. I've grown up since the days when I used to get pissed and slag him off. For whatever it's worth, good luck to them. I don't want to make enemies — I made enough when I was drinking, I try to make friends with people these days!"

hab ich heute auch relativ fassungslos gelesen, allerdings hat sich zakk dazu schon zu wort gemeldet und gemeint, dass er davon gar nix wüßte...

Ich tipp ja immer noch drauf dass Ozzy John 5 ne Chance gegeben hat, er (respektive Sharon) ihn aber scheiße fanden. Oder Gus G, keine Ahnung..
Jedenfalls soll wohl frischer Wind rein, aber bevor man was endgültiges hat, entlässt man Zakk vorsichtshalber noch nicht.

Nicht zuletzt könnts aber auch nur n neuer Ozzy PR Gag sein um sich mal wieder in's Gespräch zu bringen.

Was mich jedenfalls übelst nervt sind die ganzen scheiß Blabbermouth Kommentare von wegen "Ozzy is clean und kann sich keine dauerbesoffenen Möchtegern-Biker mehr leisten in der Band".

Trotzdem könnte Ozzy Zakk doch mal anrufen und es ihm erklären...
Habe mir das Interview angehört. Zakk scheint wirklich etwas angepisst zu sein, was ja auch verständlich ist. Aber denke das wird sich alles wieder regeln. Schließlich sind sie quasi eine Familie und Zakk war jahrelang sehr loyal.

Insgesamt fänd ichs nicht zu schade wenn Zakk wirklich nicht mehr bei Ozzy spielt. Er könnte sich auf die Society konzentrieren und bekäm auch was das Touren angeht etwas Ruhe.

So Ozzy hat nen neuen im Boot....es ist Gus G. geworden...
schaut euch die videos an...wie er Zakk kopiert!..Unglaublich

Aber irgendwie hab ich das gefühl das Ozzy nur Gus G dabei hat...weil Zakk keine zeit hat immoment...war doch damals mit der Under Cover scheibe und so auch...das er sich zwischenzeitlich nen andern gesucht hat!

Ist schon irre wie Gus Zakk kopiert, abe rman muss ihm auch zugute halten dass sein Stil schon immer sehr ähnlich dem von Zakk ist, das is also keien neue Masche für gerade eben.
Naja, Zakk is ja auf BLS Tour, ich würd daher noch nicht allzu viel darauf geben. Mike Bordin war ja auch nicht dabei.

Der Artikel stammt aus der RockHard Nr. 272:

Zakk Wylde hat sich erstmals öffentlich zu seinem Rauswurf bei Ozzy Osbourne geäußert. In einem Interview lässt der Gitarrenheld die Hose runter:
"Ozzy und Sharon eröffneten mir am Küchentisch: "Zakk, wir sind sehr stolz auf dich, aber du bist jetzt 42 Jahre alt. Es ist an der Zeit, dass du deine Frau und deine Kinder nimmst, dich aus unserem Schlafzimmer verpisst, endlich erwachsen wirst und dir einen verdammten Job suchst. Wir haben genug für dich getan, wir wollen jetzt unser Leben genießen. Du bist 42, verschwinde aus unserem Haus".
So lief das ab, und so hart es auch war, ich musste es akzeptieren. Dass sie mich feuern wollten, hatte ich auch nicht zuerst von ihnen, sondern von einem Fotografen erfahren. Ich habe für Ozzy gespielt, seit ich 19 bin. Es fühlt sich jetzt an, als wären mein Dad und meine Mom gestorben. Aber ich bin dankbar für die 23 Jahre, die ich mit dem Boss verbringen durfte. Und mein Nachfolger Gus G. ist ein großartiger Musiker. Ich hoffe, er hat auch nur eine Millisekunde den Spaß, den ich hatte".

Ja, bitter. Aber Zakk lässt den Kopf nicht hängen und haut jetzt 12400% mehr in die Black Label rein. Das ist auch gut für uns

BLS hat eh viel mehr geilere Alben rausgebracht als Ozzy / Solo.
Ich find von Ozzy sind eig nur Blizzard of Ozz, No more tears und die No Rest for the Wicked RICHTIG gut.
Die anderen sind zwar auch gut...aber halt nicht sooo gut das ich durch die angefangen hätte Ozzy zu hören.

Von BLS ist eig. jede CD ein Meisterwerk.
So seh ich das.
